Educational module system

Study overview
In each study year, there are four different modules. Every module will take 10 weeks and are related to one subject. You will also gain practical experience in the Stenden Hotel. In the first year, you will be introduced to the hospitality industry. After that, you will be working as a supervisor and in the third year you will be working as a manager of an entire department.
In the first year, you will have modules regarding guest Guest Experience, Resources, Hospitality Operations and Real-World Learning in Practice.
In the second year, the modules will cover the Hospitality Operations related to Design, Performance and Environment and it also covers Languages and Cultures in International Business.
In the third year, you will have classes in strategic management and take on a research project in preparation for your final-year project. You can also go on Grand Tour and specialise by taking two minors and study abroad at one of NHL Stenden's partner universities or at one of the campuses located in South Africa, Indonesia, Thailand or Qatar.
In the final year, you will go on a 10-month internship which will give you the opportunity to really get to know the company and it also gives you the chance to have a job lined up as soon as they graduate.

Specialisation
In the third and final year, you will have to go on Grand Tour. This will give you the option to specialise and take minors at the Leeuwarden branch or at one of the NHL Stenden branches located in South Africa, Thailand, Qatar or Indonesia.
